Who we consider to have been a language and cultural advisor
Language and cultural advisors (LCAs) are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Afghan origin who worked for National Defence (DND), in Afghanistan, during Canada’s military operations
- as advisors and language interpreters and
- between 2001 and 2021
LCAs were Canadian citizens or permanent residents when they worked for DND in Afghanistan. They must currently live in Canada.
This temporary public policy will let you immigrate to Canada if you are an extended family member of a former LCA who
- worked for DND in Afghanistan between 2001 and 2021
- was a Canadian citizen or permanent resident when they worked for DND
- is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who currently lives in Canada
Note:
- we’ll only accept complete applications for processing
- we’ll return your application to you if it is not complete
- you won’t be considered under this public policy if you send an email on its own without a complete application included
