Extending the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel and other supports

To continue supporting those affected by Russia’s war against Ukraine, we’re extending the end dates for the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET) and other related measures.

We’re also extending the one-time financial assistance provided to eligible Ukrainians and their family members.

End dates for temporary measures available to Ukrainians and their family members

Date Temporary measure or support available
July 15, 2023
  • Last day to apply for CUAET from overseas
    • Eligible applicants who are outside Canada have until July 15, 2023, to apply for a visa under CUAET.
    • Application fees will continue to be waived.
March 31, 2024
  • Last day to extend or change your temporary status in Canada under CUAET
    • Those in Canada with a visa under CUAET have until March 31, 2024, to apply to extend or change their temporary status in Canada through the special measures.
    • Application fees will continue to be waived.
    • Last day to enter Canada under the CUAET special measures
      • Those with a visa under CUAET have until March 31, 2024, to travel to Canada under the special measures to be eligible for various supports offered under CUAET.
      • Those with a visa under CUAET who arrive on or after April 1, 2024, will need to meet the general requirements to enter Canada and won’t be eligible to receive supports offered under the CUAET special measures.
March 31, 2025
  • Last day when Ukrainians and their family members who are in Canada temporarily can benefit from settlement services
    • Settlement services that are normally reserved for permanent residents of Canada will continue to be available to all Ukrainians and their family members until March 31, 2025.
